Eye Health Unit
The St. Anne Mission Hospital Eye Health-Igoji Unit opened in August of 2022. Our Eye Unit has the only full-time ophthalmologist within 31 km of the hospital. Eye check-ups are important and may change your life for the better. We are open Monday – Friday, 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Eye Health Facts You Should Know
- 80% of blindness in Kenya is preventable.
- Anyone who has trouble seeing or has diabetes or high blood pressure should have their eyes examined.
- Treatable health conditions that can cause loss of sight include:
- Diabetes (sugar)
- High blood pressure
- Certain infections
- Certain parasites
- Glaucoma
- Cataracts
- Growths on the eyeball
- Children do better in school when they see well.
- Eye exams are painless.
