Eye Health Unit

The St. Anne Mission Hospital Eye Health-Igoji Unit opened in August of 2022. Our Eye Unit has the only full-time ophthalmologist within 31 km of the hospital. Eye check-ups are important and may change your life for the better. We are open Monday – Friday, 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Eye Health Facts You Should Know

  • 80% of blindness in Kenya is preventable.
  • Anyone who has trouble seeing or has diabetes or high blood pressure should have their eyes examined.
  • Treatable health conditions that can cause loss of sight include:
      • Diabetes (sugar)
      • High blood pressure
      • Certain infections
      • Certain parasites
      • Glaucoma
      • Cataracts
      • Growths on the eyeball
      • Children do better in school when they see well.
      • Eye exams are painless.
